Intro

When deploying the template version of WordPress using Google Compute Engine there are a number of configuration changes that need to be made to ensure that templates load correctly.

Increase the WordPress Memory size to 256 MB

SSH into the instance and run the following commands: sudo nano ./var/www/html/wp-config.php Add the following above the MySQL settings: define ( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' ); Restart the web service: sudo service apache2 restart

Add the missing PHP Zip extention

SSH into the instance and run the following command: sudo apt install php7.4-zip sudo service apache2 restart

Add the missing imagick extention

SSH into the instace and run the following commands: sudo apt install php-imagick sudo service apache2 restart
